Years ago, before there was a network… before there were conferences… before there were study guides or gatherings… there was a moment.
I was just a young man at camp.
I didn’t go to camp looking to start a movement. I went because someone invited me. I went because I needed direction. I went because I was searching.
But while I was there, something happened.
In the quiet of that mountain setting — away from distractions, away from noise, away from reputation — God spoke to me.
Not in an audible voice.
But in a way that marked me.
He showed me something I had never fully understood before:
A man can look strong on the outside and still be breaking on the inside.
A man can lead publicly and still be lost privately.
A man can wear confidence and still wrestle with insecurity.
At that camp, God began dealing with my inner man.
He began stripping pride.
Exposing compromise.
Healing wounds I didn’t know I carried.
Calling me higher.
That moment planted a seed.
The Revelation
Years later, after pastoring, discipling, counseling, and walking with men through marriages, failures, addictions, identity crises, and leadership struggles, I saw a pattern.
Men weren’t failing because they lacked talent. They weren’t failing because they lacked opportunity. They were failing because no one had taught them how to build from the inside out. That burden from camp never left me. I realized God didn’t just want to heal me — He wanted to send me.
From Book to Brotherhood
When I wrote The Inner Man, it wasn’t just a book. It was a message birthed from that camp encounter.
It was a call for men to stop pretending. To confront what’s happening beneath the surface. To rebuild character, integrity, and spiritual alignment. But something unexpected happened. Men didn’t just read the book. They began gathering.
